Positive stage/structural functionalist stage: people researching and trying to observe and collect data. Durkheim: need to look at social facts objectively, observe the patterns, patterns of regularity can be studied statistically, you are entitled to your opinion but what are the statistical facts (quantitative methods) What does it tell us about people.
