Homosexuality sin mental illness sexuality. Homosexuality was understood as an illness for approx. 150 years: there was change around 1970"s-early 80"s. People think of anorexia and bulimia as an illness: in opposition there"s groups called pro-ana/pro-mia that say they are just lifestyle choices. Construct what actually counts as illness and what counts as health. What counts as an illness/disease is what society considers to count as an illness/disease. Different people have different goals or agendas that define different things as belong to or not belonging to certain categories. What we think of as being good or normal or desirable = healthy. Speakers of same language may understand eachother but get lost in translation. Disease labels make value judgements about what is normal.
