Disorders related to addiction include substance use, gambling, gaming (proposed, diagnosed in east asia) Some people think addiction is disease: provides comfort not your fault. Other think it is about people making poor choices. Conflict between immediate pleasure, long term harm: a value judgment, subjective, personal. Why not caffeine: possible religious, it"s too common. Gaming: it is affecting young job looking men, economic consequences, the people have obsessions, anxiety. Links between other disorders like ocd, impulse control disorders. People who have addictions can"t control their actions. An enduring pattern of behaviour that deviates from what is normal in a culture, it is inflexible and leads to distress. People may: have problems/troubling living with others or self, have difficulty learning/changing from past experiences, find it difficult to control behaviour, experience significant problems with work. Tend to be difficult to treat: only kind of good treatment of bpd, self-reporting are very low.
