Chronic worriers not fixed, may not even have clear source, and may encompass many different parts. Accompanied by minor disturbances in sleep, irritability, concentration, restlessness. Far more common in women (roles? stereotypes ) Biological model may examine the difference in physiology and hormones. Social model; may look at the uneven distribution of stress between the two sexes. Evolutionary: anxiety and phobias adaptive in some situations, out of place in modern world. Freud: anxiety a warning sign" about id"s impulses. We get anxious when we"re about to do something we shouldn"t do . Behavioural: learned behaviours acquired through conditioning and reinforcement. Life events: people who experience agoraphobia more likely to have face dangerous situations, like crime, conflict, serious arguments, depression, by contrast, associated with loss. Genetics: inherent proclivity to panic vs experiencing generalized anxiety distinctly. Does not hold true for all types of anxiety disorders.
