Agricultural and industrial revolutions lead to this other change - women having less children and children dying less. How the industrail revolution introduced even more surplus, we have more people moving from rural to urban, separating from the typical large family setting. It is very hard for single and nuclear families to have their own surplus of time. Nuclear famliship was once a pinacle accomplishment that people couldn"t afford (financially or in terms of time). Industrialization both promoted a decline in infant mortality and as time goes on we continue to look at the impact of nuclear families and the industrial revolution. The baby boom took place from 1945-1965, it happened after wwii. The ratio of dependents to the working population, 15-64 is the working age, 65+ is considered seniors.
