Healthy sex reinforces a conservative vision of what sexual behaviour should look like (monogamy, heterosexual, white, way of building love relationship/communication etc. ) Sex that deviates from natural and loving monogamous sex framed as pathological. Addictive sex de ned by relationship between partners: addicts objectify and exploit partner rather than cherish and love them as part of sex. Good sex about the creation and maintenance of a loving relationship. Addictive sex about pleasure, boosting self esteem, escaping loneliness. Sex addiction differs from substance addiction in concept of predictability (pattern) how they are socially constructed. Alcoholic: increasingly start to drink substance in same way over and over; life structured around predictable intake pattern sign of addiction. Many believe re: substances a kind of monotony develops as person becomes addicted; use same substance everyday at same times and place. By contrast, increasing variety of sexual activity a symptom of sex addiction.
