Two central paradigms: positivism (follows scienti c principles) and verstchen (means understanding) ! What is a paradigm? a world view, how we think about the world ! Sunglasses: one with dark tint, you see the world in one way, if you don"t wear them at all you have a different view of the scene ! Positivistic philosophy: how you see the world and research it is different than interpretive paradigm ! We are in uenced by everything around us, by what we learn in school and our cultures! We are socialized in particular ways, there are kinds of assumptions behind them (we learn to act particular ways because we are socialized in that framework)!
