HTHSCI 1H06 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Musculocutaneous Nerve, Appendicular Skeleton, Golgi Tendon Organ
Document Summary
Explain spinal cord reflex and mixed spinal nerves. Define superficial fascia, its layers, what is becomes and separates. Fuses with the periosteum of the bones: create the division of the two compartments of the limb. The extensor compartment is located at the front of the limb and contains antagonistic muscles: synergistic muscles work together where antagonistic muscles work against one another. The flexor compartment is located at the back of the limb and contains both synergistic and antagonistic muscles. Individual neurovascular bundles serve each compartment; will never break through the deep fascia. If both synergistic and antagonistic muscles are used together, it creates stiff muscles. The ventral ramus innervates muscles and skin on the anterior body wall. The dorsal ramus innervates muscles and skin on the posterior body wall: mixed spinal nerve innervates deep muscular branches, signals cross at the joints, becoming superficial cutaneous branches and innervating the skin distally. Explain the (4) ways to test the sensory modalities.
