Filum terminale extension of pia mater that fuses with arachnoid and dura mater, anchoring spinal cord to coccyx. Spinal nerves communication between sc and specific regions of body. Spinal cord is segmented because of 31 pairs of spinal nerves emerging from intervertebral foramina.
