11- cns 4 eyes, ears and vision lecture. 3 coatings of the eye: fibrous: sclera/cornea vascular/blood vessel coat, choroid/ciliary body/iris nervous coat lining inside of the eye, retina. Maintains the shape of the eye: cornea. Bends most of the light: retinal and visual pathway, glaucoma. Most of the light is bent on the cornea (refractive power: that"s where there is the biggest change in density. Make sure al the bundles of collagen fibers are running in the same direction. Have ion pumps in the epithelium that pumps salt out of the stroma into the tear film (which is why your tears are salty) Used to see the fundus (the body of the eye) to see the retina in the eye. Only see a very small part of the retina (only looking through a little keyhole) Visual pathways: looking at left hand side they eyeball is like a camera.
