Right hemicolectomy (e. g. for carcinoid, caecal necrosis) Recurrent laryngeal n. trauma hoarse voice. Cultures: wound swabs, cvp tip for culture. Acute infection of the subcutaneous connective tissue. Dvts occur in 25-50% of surgical patients. Surgery plats and fibrinogen. 65% of below knee dvts are asymptomatic. Dx: assess probability using wells" score, low-probability perform d-dimers. Positive compression us: med / high probability compression us. Start warfarin using tait model: 5mg od for first 4d. Pneumothorax (e. g. due to cvp line insertion) Consider ngt, axr and ondansetron 4mg iv tds. May use labetalol 50mg iv every 5min (200mg max) Total water: 60% of 70kg = 42l. Pressure which needs to be applied to prevent the inflow of water across a semipermeable membrane. i. e. the ability of a solute to attract water. Oncotic pressure: form of osmotic pressure exerted by proteins. Pressure exerted by a fluid at equilibrium due to the force of gravity.
