T1hs ige-mediated inflam from allergen exposure mediator release from mast cells. Regularly washing bedding (inc. toys) on high heat or use acaricides. Avoid going outside when pollen count high. Od sl grass-pollen tablets qol in hay-fever. Viruses mucosal oedema and mucosal ciliary actions mucus retention 2o bacterial infection. Majority are bacterial infection 2o to viral. Discharge: from nose post-nasal drip c foul taste. Anosmia or cacosmia (bad smell w/o external source) Osteomyelits e. g. staph in frontal bone. Upper 3rd of nose has bony support. Cartilaginous injury won"t show and radiographs don"t alter mx. Reduction under ga c post-op splinting best w/i 2wks. Septal necrosis + nasal collapse if untreated. Needs evacuation under ga c packing suturing. May be sign of rare but sinister pathology. Overgrowth of tissue on little"s area due to irritation or hormonal factors. Coagulopathy: warfarin, nsaids, haemophilia, plats, vwd, etoh.
