They are released from their endocrine gland travel thru blood stream to receptors --> second messengers, alter cell function. Insulin --> tyrosine kinase --> enzyme phosphorylates other rxns. Relationship, how is it manipulated pharmacologically i. e. birth control. Follicle needs to mature to be fertilized. Estrogen = surge if lh & fsh can lead to fertilization. Increase in estrogen & progesterone can lead to thickening --> egg is fertilized = happy home for implantation for the whole gestational period. If fertilization does not occur, estrogen and progesterone is inhibited, menses.
