Canada has a predominately publically financed, privately delivered health care system. Provides access to universal, comprehensive coverage for medically necessary hospital, in-patient, and out patient physician services. Most are private practitioners who work in independent or group practices, enjoy a high degree of autonomy, and are generally paid on a fee-for-service bases. Setting the administering national principles or standards for the system: set the rules by which healthcare must be run. Assisting in the financing of provincial health care services through fiscal transfer. Delivering direct health services to specific groups: federal inmates, aboriginals, veterans, canadian-forces, diplomats- federal government people, federal police force, rcmp. Planning, financing and evaluating the provisions of hospital care, physician and allied health care services. Provinces responsibility is taking the rules and money that fed gives, and actually delivers it. Challenging because province can interpret rules and deliver health care however they see fit.
