KINESIOL 1A03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 23: Triceps Brachii Muscle, Biceps, Pronator Teres Muscle
Document Summary
Wraps around front of humerus and attaches on side of it. Only acts as an extensor when arm is already flexed, cant extend past coronal plane. Gather together and go under the humerus (axillary region) Fibers on posterior, superior and anterior side all go together on humerus. Triceps brachii: inserts on olecranon (pulls into extension) Anconeus: from humerus onto olecranon process, cause extension but more of a synergistic muscle for triceps because it is very small. Brachioradialis: has insertion low down on humerus, belly in forearm radius. Brachialis: deep to biceps, it has origin higher on humerus. Muscles on anterior surface of forearm: flexion as well as abduction and adduction of the wrist. Muscles on posterior surface of forearm: extension and abduction. Large group of fleshy muscles on thumb side: Illiacus and psoas major often referred to as iliopsoas since they share a tendon of insertion. Lateral rotation of femur, abduction, extension of thigh and stabilize femur.
