Have a lot to do with core body temp. Uses energy to move but also turnover muscle rapidly. Shivering, reflexive contraction of muscles to produce heat. Excitability: capacity of muscle to respond to stimuli. Extensibility: muscle can be stretched beyond its resting length and still be able to contract. Elasticity: ability of muscle to recoil to original resting length after its been stretched. To lengthen muscle again, you can use gravity or contract opposing group or an external force. Composed of cells (fibers) connective tissues blood vessels, nerve. Several cells fused together to create muscle fibers (myoblasts) Striated appearance due to light and dark banding. Muscular fascia- outer layer of ct. very dense very hard, surrounds groups or individual muscles.
