KINESIOL 1A03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Elastin, Phrenic Nerve, Lumbar Plexus
Document Summary
The spinal cord is composed of nervous tissues: nervous tissue consists of neurons and their neuroglia (glial cells) It connects the brain to the peripheral nervous system. It extends from the foramen magnum to vertebrae l2: the foramen magnum is a large hole in occipital bone of the skull. The individual bones on the vertebral column. All the vertebral foramen in the vertebral column: this is where the spinal cord is located, provides protection. The holes in between each vertebrae: this is where the spinal nerves will exit the spinal cord. The vertebrae in the region are called cervical vertebrae: the spinal nerves are called cervical nerves. The vertebrae in the region are called thoracic vertebrae: the spinal nerves are called thoracic nerves. The vertebrae in the region are called lumbar vertebrae: the spinal nerves are called lumbar nerves. The vertebrae in the region are called sacral and coccygeal vertebrae: the spinal nerves are called sacral and coccygeal nerves.
