Consists of 2 layers: outer fibrous pericardium; Helps with protection and limiting amount of blood that enters heart (makes sure it doesn"t expand too much: inner serous pericardium; Fused to outer fibrous layer of pericardium. 2 layers separated by the serous cavity, a fluid-filled space. Bumpy ridges on interior surface of chambers of heart. 4 chambers: 2 atria (upper, 2 ventricles (lower) Auricle of right atrium: flabby sac that hangs in front of atrium. Left atrium dominates the posterior side of the heart & the base of the heart.
