Histology of the uterus 3 main layers: endometrium: simple columnar epithelium (some are ciliated and help ova move through)(most help secrete nutrients to blastocyst) and areolar loose ct (stroma) Sunday, march 26, 2017: myometrium: has 3 layers of sooth muscle and is thickest at the fundus; has inner/ outer - longitudinal or oblique and middle - circular, perimetrium visceral peritoneum. Vagina passageway for birth, menstrual ow and intercourse: 10 cm long bromuscular canal ending at cervix and starting in the vaginal orri c lies between urinary bladder and rectum, histology: Mucosa strati ed squamous epithelium (create acidic environment) with rugae (ridges which help with stretching of wall) Muscularis out circular/ inner longitudinal smooth muscle which allows considerable stretch.
