Types of goal specificity: no goals, do-your-best goals (general, achievement type of goal not specific, specific goals (differ in difficulty to achieve) Goals with a certain value of achievement, goal with a number to it: most research has examined performance effects specific goals that are difficult, but not impossible, tend to facilitate performance and learning. Agenda provides a framework for the achievement of the goal. Maintains vigilance (maintains attention over a long period of time); sustained effort/attention. A referent to assess improvement, easy to set future goals. Not part of movement but influences how we move.
