KINESIOL 1E03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Biofeedback, Proprioception, Physical Therapy
Document Summary
Augmented feedback provides you with feedback you would otherwise not have but it can distract you / prevent you from better understanding your own feedback. During practice is most often when augmented feedback is available to you. Learning to perform with augmented feedback gives you an artificial environment b/c you have to rely on your own feedback. Inherent/intrinsic: the way we act on a daily basis, always with us, visual, auditory, proprioceptive, tactile. Kr often redundant with inherent feedback, kp usually distinct from intrinsic. Intrinsic feedback: visual: seeing the bone and drill. 1: hearing: sound of drill bit differs at various points through the bone, proprioceptive: feel of the bit (resistance) as it goes through the bone. Augmented feedback: kp video feedback (shown on a tv monitor beside you); provides info about ongoing movement itself, pattern of movement causing drill bit to go through bone, kr comments from others; auditory monitoring device.
