Document Summary
Dissociation between effects on immediate changes and long term changes. Sometimes short and long term changes are negatively correlated. Living require adapting to life"s unexpectations: driving a rental car (new/quick learning, using a borrowed squash racquet, typing on a new laptop keyboard layout, walking on an icy sidewalk, recovering from a stroke. Anyone who is in a position of facilitating the learning or relearning process: teachers, trainres. Personal skills: rehabilitation specialists (pts, ots, chiropractors) What is motor learning? the changes, associated with practice or experience, in internal processes that determine a person"s capability for producing a motor skill. Skills are not abilities, abilities are genetic/inherent, skills are how you adapt those abilities. Changes are not transient, they do not go away immediately after practice. Examples: motivation ( pos change) and fatigue ( neg change) have effects on performance, but these are mostly temporary and do not represent enduring effects.
