Document Summary

The existence and maintenance of relatively constant environment within the body. Maintain internal equilibrium by adjusting physiological processes. Body maintains core temperature by sweating; cools the skin when water is evaporated. Too much sweat and blood volume begins to decrease and there is a decrease in bp resulting in strain on cardiovascular system. Desire for water when blood volume decreases and restores water balance. Set point: the ideal normal value of something in your body. Body temperature is 37 at rest: role of organs. Stimulation: deviation/change in the set point and is detected by the receptors. Any deviation from the set point is made smaller (resisted) Regulation of bp, body temp, blood sugar levels. Blood pressure determines the flow of blood to and from the capillaries. Bp too high = ruptured blood vessels and internal bleeding. The aortic arch carries blood to the body. The common carotids carry blood to the head.
