Document Summary

Joint: where we have the union of 2 or more bones. Looking for the amount of space between our joints, the type of ct that is within the joint or surrounding the joint: fibrosus, cartilaginous, synovial. 3 major motions of joints(function): synarthrosis or non movable, amphiarthrosis or slightly moveable, diarthrosis or freely moveable. Seems within the bone of the skull which are joined by dense irregular collagenous ct. Also have irregularly, locking bony edges which provide additional strength to the joints. The frontal bone is connected to the parietal bone at the coronal suture. The 2 parietal bones are connected to each other via the sagittal suture. The occipital bone is connected to the parietal bone at the lambdoid suture. In a baby, there are wider spaces in between these cranial bones & these spaces are covered by a membrane; forms a membranous film over these sutures which is referred to as the fontanelles.
