Placebo shows that our beliefs of if the treatment will work has a huge effect on the actual efficacy of the treatment. Case study: girl with dramatic mood swings, anxiety, hallucinations. Maybe she"s on drugs or she has some mental illness like schizophrenia. Medication is not working to cure her symptoms like depression. Symptoms accompanied by physiological symptoms: racing heart, nausea, joint pain. Mental symptoms could be a result of something physical.
