15 views2 pages

Document Summary

Physiological, psychological, genetic, environmental (single-parent families, violence on. Tv/movies/music, substance abuse at younger age), socioeconomic status. No identified single cause but it may have a lot to do with how we raise our children. A lot of research out there that suggests possibility but there has never been correlation. We are faced with a bunch of symptoms. Focus on behaviours (with a positive approach, can win over the most troublesome individual) Do not focus on negative side (they are not bad kids, they just exhibit unacceptable behaviour) Do not want to focus on this unacceptable behaviour but instead want to teach them appropriate behaviour as opposed to reprimanding them or becoming upset (let it go and focus on a better way to act) Fitness-related, decreased disruptive behaviour, decreased self-stimulating behaviour, improved academic performance, off the streets . If we can get them engaged in pa, they might actually do better in an academic setting.
