KINESIOL 4KK3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Lumbar Vertebrae, Thoracic Vertebrae, Sciatic Nerve
Document Summary
Kin 4kk3 lecture 15 finding range (rom for spinal cord) cont. Extended puppy is the arc we see in slide: In this position - locking up lower spine, pushing thoracic into extension. If we put the hip into flexion we really lock the lumbar spine out and can work on getting better movement through thoracic. Sternum lifting key for thoracic spine: once ribs start to lift/flare means were starting to transition movement into lumbar spine. Better extension technique for people who cannot get right onto the floor. Can very easily assess all the different cues and see how everything is lining up in this position. Need to consider how our neural tracts travel in our bodies/how theyre stressed as well. Sciatic neural tract affects most structures of the lower extremity and is often the tract we have most issues with. Think of the sciatic nerve like a string running the pathway we see in the diagram.
