So as you notice definitions are important and how we understand its emergence; these definitions shape how we see issues. Thus we need to be careful about the framework in the things we read. Whether b/t north and south or even in different regions it changes the way we view work. Quantitative research helps us look at the trends. Example; wayne chuck -- trends and changes in hamilton and canada as a whole. They look at precarious work in a way that is non-standard. They look at the conditions of work (part-time, seasonal, causal, holding multiple jobs and self-employment) With standard employment its secure 9-5 hours, non-contract, etc.
