Especially in western world, you have items of clothing/ other objects made from all over the world, this is globalization. Craft workers role was to make things in the community. Communities were self su cient, items were made locally called, island communities. You needed local skilled trades workers because theres no factories that can transport goods etc. Impacts quality of life and sometimes on identity of community. Craft workers commended a fair level of respect in a community back bone of the community. Craft shops were small scale ten footers and most of the time attached to the house. Most shops had only a couple (4/5) people. Master crafts men were very gender conscious, taught the apprentices how to be men and grow up. Producer ideology - against large companies and against being controlled. Believed that these big companies for example, banks or railroads, took advantage of people.
