Role in community: production is local, self sufficiency, key figure: master craftsmen. Communities tended to be local, most products made very local. E. g. island communities, self sufficient and isolated, needed self. Craftsmen made these essential products locally in communities (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) sufficiency to survive because of isolation (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) Impact on quality of life: sometimes on identity of community. Craftsmen allow communities to be self sufficient, how skilled they. Community relied of craftsmen for products, clothes, shoes, (cid:1) (cid:1) blacksmith for farming tools and other fundamental things (cid:1) work had an impact on the communities quality of life (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) (cid:1) Areas known for having better life because of skilled craftsmen. Local know-how was a determinant factor of what life was like. Most of products produced were done in small shops, 4-8 workers in. Majority of shops attached to the home of the master craftsman"s.
