Activity in unions is decreased and therefore decreased activity of the labour movement. 1950"s: economy is good: start to find new roles & opportunities, role for women expands, new work, new opportunities, women were needed for the war, viewed as: Physically challenged for some kinds of work: actual reason women came into workforce: there was nobody else to turn to, it was a labour shortage.
