LABRST 1C03 Lecture 2: Jan 14 2014
Document Summary
Last class talked about ways to understand how people may view their work. Extremely hard to measure and data is confusing and contradictory. The ? is because the measurements are not correct. Specifically loyalty is low when workers are asked. Measurements of behaviour do not reveal positive results: high absents - people taking all sick days, rates of absents very high, people feel very conflicted with their job. Workers are convincing themselves they like the job when they don"t to get through it. Durring last economic crash 08 job satisfaction went up, likely because people feel they are luck to have a job. If you are able to hold on to your job feeling of worth, value. People"s priorities split depending on class upper class. Not much of middle class left mainly low and upper. This generation priorities and work expectations have gone down compared to older generation (gen x post baby boomers)
