However it wasn"t always like this, there were other models in the past. Direction of working class (eric hobsbawm a 20th century theorist) term that they often used was the destiny of the working class . Speaks of socialism because that the working class is supposed to be the gravedigger of capitalism, that its going to grow into a class that will eventually overthrow the capitalist system (because of technological advances, etc) Even people who didn"t identify with socialism believed that the working class would eventually become a prevalent class (have a lot of power)
