Document Summary
Labour process theory is that if your going to understand what the workplace is doing you need to understand the structure of the work and structure of the employer. Amapceo have been unionizing and very aggressive in making union gains. Alarms employers because you see the middle class turning to unionization to hold onto their middle class status. Public sector slightly bigger now, private sector is declining in union rates. Public sector unionism has continued to be quite strong. There is a school of thought in the labour movement that says if we can keep people unionized, we can survive. If you can live to fight another day, you have a chance to fight in the longer term. Workers have become extremely engaged in unions recently, want to make gains. Women"s involvement in unions have increased quite a bit (cause they"re usually in public sector unionism) Still not found that often in leadership positions.
