Document Summary

England: machine breakers not successful in england. France: they know that repressing popular revolts doesn"t go well, the population though, believes these protests may work. Ideal for an advanced world was not present back then, it was a small producer (farming, small shop, black smith) society. Through the 19th century the ideal was a frontier society because of freedom and people knowing if they work hard, they can settle on the land. Resistant to technology: big cities are over crowded and they didn"t want that. However, small producers weren"t a reality forever. Worked in organizations that pushed back against advances of industrialization. Printing: lots of independent work and skill used. More of the work being done by machines producing on a larger scale: causes a wave of disruption and dislocation. Political factors mixed in and the economic crash causes rise of extremism. Mass production factories supposed to be the end.
