LABRST 3D03 Lecture 10: Week 10
Document Summary
Establishment of occupational health clinics for ontario workers (ohcow) The kinds of developments/improvements taken place in occupational health and safety that still benefit us today are the result of the ohs movement. A lot of offices were not covered by the wc act. Women"s occupations were largely not covered until 1990 (since a lot of them were in secretarial/teaching positions) Establishment of workers health & safety agency/workers health & safety. Ohs act amended (bill 208: more workplaces (offices) & workers covered by act. A lot of the work women do and the issues women face are still not covered by the wc act. As more women began to get involved in the labour movement and occupational health and safety committees, the concerns they had became more of a focus because of their engagement and pushing of their issues. A lot of male trade unionists were not happy with this, tried to resist, but female workers were persistent.
