Within the context of behavioral ecology, we start asking the question why? ! If we think of environment of an animal, we look at it at a ecological perspective. We are not just restricted to why questions, but it is important for both ecological and evolutionary perspective. How does this behavior effect the tness of the animal. Fitness has two aspects: 1) survivorship 2) reproduction. Behavioral perspective: we change the tone of our voice. Audio clip: evolutionary aspect: two teenagers talking in super low voice at a mall. Lab: two guys trying to attract a girl. Women heard the different voices ( lowered and higher pitch) and women chose guys with deeper voices especially when they"re ovulating or fertile. Men who have high level of testosterone will lower immunity, so guys that are healthy and have higher testosterone = really t. Both men and women have testosterone but men have more testosterone.
