MEDRADSC 2H03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Spina Bifida, Lordosis, Vertebra
Document Summary
Spinous processes centralized (in middle of vertebral bodies) Si joints & transverse processes symmetrical (equidistant from the body), same length & size. No rotation: spinous processes in middle of bodies, si joints are in centre. Optimal: clear bony margins & sharp trabeculae; also indicates no motion. Need to reduce the lordotic curve to open up more joint spaces. See that the lamina don"t fuse to form the spinous process. Want the lamina to be si, appear as one. Want to see 1 line at the back of the bodies, know they are si. Don"t have a single line on the superior or inferior surfaces of the bodies. Want to see body of l5 & 1st & 2nd saral segments. No rotation: si of greater sciatic notches & posterior aspect of vertebral bodies; don"t depend on sciatic notches as a repeat; intervertebral joint spaces are open. No motion: clear sharp bony margins & trabeculae.
