Advanced ct lecture 7b - interventional ct. Interventional ct: minimally invasive therapy (rf(radiofrequency) ablation, done for more complex parts (like lungs, biopsies, abscess drainage, difficult cases, bx in a difficult location, 0. 5 mm slice thickness or less. Need thinner slices to provide good res. Two methods of image guidance: sequential ct (conventional axial ct, ct fluoro. No real time visualisation: slices acquired, needle advanced, rescan, repeat, slower process, advancing needle without real time visualization, constant x-ray and constant image production, can watch needle advance, requires more specialization in the scanner. Ct fluoro first used in 1994 with all 4 vendors of ct: generation of image in real time similar to interventional. Suite: getting axial images tho (so more detailed???, tracking of puncture needle or guide wire, confirmation of location, control purposes and improved accuracy. Real time fluoroscopy: slip ring technology, high speed data processing, fast processing algorithm for image reconstruction.
