MEDRADSC 3I03 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: External Capsule, Olfactory Tract, Internal Capsule
Document Summary
Contribute to planning and programming of muscle action and movement. Both act as relay stations between thalamus and cortex of same side. Head indentation to frontal horns of lateral ventricle. Tail terminates at amygdala in temporal lobe. Head of caudate nucleus (cid:498)tucks(cid:499) into the anterior horn of lateral ventricles. Lateral to third ventricles = thalamus: beside ant. horn of lat. ventr, fits the indentation of the lat. ventricle. Lentiform nucleus at the level of thalamus: two parts of lentiform, globus pallidus medial part, lighter in mri, putamen lateral part, claustrum - grey matter tract. Between the lentiform nucleus and insula of temporal lobe. Separate basal nuclei and transmit electrical impulses throught the brain. Separates from thalamus and caudate from lentiform nucleus: anterior separates the head of caudate from lentiform nucleus, posterior limbs separates the thalamus from globus pallidus. Extreme capsule: outside edge of the claustrum, between claustrum and insula (lateral)
