Week 6b - women"s reproductive choices and surrogacy. Religion and faith: prenatal screening and testing choices, termination of pregnancy, continuation of pregnancy. Abortion-termination of pregnancy restrictions: no gestational limits, no waiting periods, no parental or spousal consent laws. Non-legal barriers to access continue to exist, such as lacking equal access to providers. Fertility: as many as 80 million worldwide suffer from infertility/infecundity, childlessness. Help single women or same sex female couples to have children. The primary benefit to women who donate eggs is the altruistic aspect helping another woman or couple achieve pregnancy. Assisted human reproductive act (ahr 2004) revised effective this year. May also be referred to as the birth mother or surrogate mother. Parents for whom the gestational carrier is birthing the newborn and who will raise the newborn(s). Intended parents may or may not have a genetic relationship with the newborns. The term alternate parents or rearing parents is also used.
