L5- JAN 21
In Reading: Roland Barthes
Three Message:
1.Linguistic: its supports are the caption, which is marginal, and the labels.
2.Image: image straightaway provides a series of discontinuous signs.
-The idea shows by the image
-Itself implies the values
-The sign stands in a relation of redundancy with the connoted sigh of the
linguistic message. And the knowledge it draws upon is already more particular
3. Four signs for the image:
-Form a coherent whole
-Require a generally cultural knowledge
-Refer back to signified each of which is global
-Imbued with euphoric values
-After the linguistic message can see a second iconic message.
4.The signified of the third message, are constituted by the real objects in the
scene.
