Publishing: printing press established in the 1400"s and music begins to be published in 1500s and the history of how it is pass through the culture. Industrial revolution: piano was a lot more available, brass and woodwinds are changing. Piano keys become more tune, richer, thicker texture. Particularly middle class = their intro to high culture. By all instruments being more broad, higher and lower range/dynamics, people are using music more as a texture than just using it as a topic since topics, dynamics and stuff is a tool to composition: romanticism. A term that was associated with music and literature and other art forms in the early 19th century. Analogy: romance, type of literature a recounting of deeds of heroism, often romances of middle ages, less focused on reason, more on passion, reason and spirituality. Used it for the music of beethoven.
