Why is it important that research can be generalized. Generalizable: extent to which the results are applicable. There is no division between mind and body (no such thing as mind over matter) Biological event that causes emotion or feeling, not a result of an exposure. Even if the individual felt confusion, the brain can distinguish between the two. Pain is a subjective experience - it is impacted by cognition, memory, experiences, and emotions. Biological event of brain telling body about danger or to remove self from danger. Same event of pain can have completely different pain perceptions based on what is going on in the individuals life i. e. stubbing toe after good vs bad experience during a certain amount of time. What you have learned also impacts how pain is experienced.
