Why is music an efecive tool in health care. Whole brain: music engages the whole brain (motor skills, tempo, rhythm, iming, logic, memory) If there is a part of the brain that isn"t funcioning, music is able to help other parts of the brain be simulated and help that lower funcioning area. Used within music therapy in order to achieve a variety of health goals. Encompasses mood, emoions, acts as a distracion , evokes memories when used either passively or in an acively meaningful manner (passive-listening, acive- helping to create the music) Music has also been found to alter mood and elicit relaxaion responses. Client will increase vocabulary to include social greeings: hello song, trying to get them to get included, increase vocab. Client will engage in turn taking behavior: taking his turn to strum the guitar. Client will self-express through musical improvisaion and verbal dialogue. Objecives: turn taking, increasing vocab, minimizes inappropriate vocab, more speciic.
