Health belief model & social learning theory is used for nurses to form action plan that meets needs and capabilities of each person in making healthy behaviour changes. Health behaviours: any activities that an individual undertakes to enhance health, prevent disease, and detect and control the symptoms of a disease. Health belief model: paradigm used to predict and explain health behaviour. Describes why people failed to participate in programs to detect or prevent disease. Explain responses to symptoms, disease, prescribed treatments, and potential health problems. Provides guidelines for nurses to analyze factors that contribute to a person"s perceived state of health or risk of disease and to individual"s probability of making an appropriate plan of action: Value of heath of the individual compared with other aspects of living. Perceived susceptibility to a health problem, disease, or complications. Perceived seriousness of the disease level threatening the achievement of certain goals or aims.
