All categories of nurses work together in a holistic model to facilitate continuity of care. Cno outlines the competencies for each category of nurse. The respective environment is a factor that must be considered when guiding nursing assignments. Respecting and understanding the roles of each nursing category facilitates effective intra-professional collaborative practice among nurses. Nursing assignments are guided by the acuity of the patient"s/client"s condition. Nursing is based on relationships with patients or clients and team members.
