NURSING 2LA2 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Platelet-Activating Factor, Alveolar Macrophage, Mast Cell
Document Summary
Non-speficifc- inflammatory response innate- natural: acquired- evolving over time. Protective response designed to eliminate initial cause of injury remove damaged tissue and generate new tissue. The biochemical and cellular response of vascularized tissue to injury; designed to protect body from further injury. Movement of required components to site of injury. Learning goal 3: causes of inflammation; immune rxn between antigen/antibody trauma burns(tissue necrosis) temp extremes. Nonspecific- same process occur with dinger than toe regardless of cause: does(cid:374)"t (cid:373)atter where or how i(cid:374)jury o(cid:272)(cid:272)urs works sa(cid:373)e way. Normally cells float in blood vessels continuously and harmoniously. Numerous biochemical mediators released from mast cells, plasma proteins and dying cells which trigger production of adhesion molecules on surface of many cells. Adhesion molecules- cause cells to stick to endothelium. Platelets thrombin, and platelet activating factor: hemostasis- stemming of blood flow, produce potent inflammatory mediators. Inc. vasc permeability: adhesive and proteolytic properties of endothelium.
