Peace studies lecture 1a03: historic understanding of peace and war. For tutorial readings, lectures will not be providing summarization of chapters. This is your responsibility for tutorials (which are mandatory) and will help you in the final exam. Tutorial readings are all found on avenue (there are questions provided for each of the three excerpt) Participation is used for marks in tutorials. Quantity of comments, and depth of conversation (qualitative debate and engagement in the material) Connections are made between the readings (this will let you achieve higher marks in tutorials) Avenue to learn: check regularly (guidelines and rubric on first assignment by end of today) Ideas of pre- 1800: (quick overview and trends) It"s not until the beginning of 1800"s that we see organization of peace movements (international as well) Judaism/christianity/islam (in a lot of instances religious provided structures in society for how individuals could interact with one another)
