The claim that we should be tolerant of other cultures because of certain reasons it has to be measured against a non relativistic standard: believing that we should respect other cultures is a non relativistic belief, believing that we should respect other cultures does not mean that we cannot judge the moral rules and practices of other cultures, believing that one holds a morally correct view does not justify imposing that moral perspective on others. Moral vs. non moral standards: when we answer a moral question or make a moral judgment, we appeal to moral standards, standard is violated but the violation does not pose a serious threat to human well being, moral standards: concern behavior that is of serious consequence to human welfare, that can profoundly injure or benefit people, moral standards take priority over other standards, including self interest, moral standards is that their soundness depends on the adequacy of the reasons that support or justify them.
